News of China’s Rubber Additives Industry in 2022

1.China’s rubber additive industry has been established for 70 years
70 years ago, in 1952, Shenyang Xinsheng Chemical Plant and Nanjing Chemical Plant respectively built rubber accelerator and rubber antioxidant production units, with a total output of 38 tons in the year, and China’s rubber additive industry started. Over the past 70 years, China’s rubber additive industry has entered a new era of green, intelligent and micro-chemical industry from scratch, from small to large and from large to strong. According to the statistics of the Rubber Additives Special Committee of the China Rubber Association, the output of rubber additives will reach about 1.4 million tons in 2022, accounting for 76.2% of the global production capacity. It has the ability to ensure stable global supply and has an absolute voice in the world. Through technological innovation and promotion of cleaner production technology, compared with the end of the “12th Five-Year Plan”, the energy consumption per ton of products at the end of the “13th Five-Year Plan” was reduced by about 30%; The greening rate of products reached more than 92%, and the structural adjustment achieved remarkable results; The cleaner production process of accelerator has achieved remarkable results, and the overall cleaner production technology level of the industry has reached the international advanced level. Industry entrepreneurs are enterprising and innovative, and have created a number of internationally influential enterprises. The scale of many enterprises or the production and sales of a single product ranks first in the world. China’s rubber additive industry has entered the ranks of the world’s powerful countries, and many products have taken the lead in the world.

2.Two rubber auxiliary products are listed in the list of substances of high concern (SVHC)
On January 27, the European Chemical Administration (ECHA) added four new rubber chemicals (including two rubber auxiliaries) to the list of substances of high concern (SVHC). ECHA said in a statement on January 17, 2022 that due to the possible negative impact on human fertility, 2,2 ‘- methylenebis – (4-methyl-6-tert-butylphenol) (antioxidant 2246) and vinyl – tris (2-methoxyethoxy) silane have been added to the SVHC list. These two rubber auxiliary products are commonly used in rubber, lubricants, sealants and other products.

3.India Ends Three Anti-dumping Measures for Rubber Additives
On March 30, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India made a final affirmative anti-dumping decision on the rubber additives TMQ, CTP and CBS, which were originally produced or imported from China, and proposed to impose a five-year anti-dumping duty on the products involved. On June 23, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India announced that it had received the office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance on the same day and decided not to impose anti-dumping duties on the rubber auxiliary products involved in the case in relevant countries and regions.

4.The first “zero carbon” rubber antioxidant in China was born
On May 6, the rubber antioxidant products 6PPD and TMQ of Sinopec Nanjing Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. obtained the carbon footprint certificate and carbon neutralization product certificates 010122001 and 010122002 issued by the international authoritative certification company TüV South Germany Group, becoming the first rubber antioxidant carbon neutralization product in China to obtain international certification.
